The best American Schools in London

American Schools in Central London

The American School in London (ASL) is the only international school in Central London which follows the US curriculum. As such, it is heavily over-subscribed and has a rigorous application process.  It is highly advisable to apply early.  The American School in London is located in St John’s Wood, an affluent district of leafy residential streets, which is also known for Lord’s Cricket Ground, the headquarters of English cricket.  From St John’s Wood, you can commute to the City (financial district) and Piccadilly within 25 minutes and Mayfair within 15 minutes.  ASL is brilliantly run by an experienced senior management and admissions team.  It caters for children with different academic needs – and the High School has strong cohort every year gaining entry to Ivy League colleges. ASL take children from 4 years all the way to 18.   The 50 different nationalities represented at the school give it a truly global outlook, whilst at the same time focusing on providing an American education.  Students and parents always comment on the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

Like many international schools in London, the American School in London understands the challenges of an international move and takes time to help new families settle into their new school routine.  It is also well-versed in helping children transition to the US curriculum.  For families coming from either American or international schools abroad, ASL feels friendly and familiar.  The school has been rated “outstanding” across all areas by the UK Office of Standards in Education (OFSTED).
